Then and Now: The Land of Israel and the Jewish People

The Jewish people’s claim to the modern State of Israel is based on the Jewish people’s biblical connection to the Land of Israel. This eternal right to the land is rooted in at least four principles: God promised the land to the Jewish people as stated in the bible; the Jewish people settled and developed the land and have maintained a continuous presence in the land for over 3,000 years; the international community gave political sovereignty in Palestine to the Jewish people; all the territory that is part of Israel today, beyond what was originally granted to it by the United Nations, was captured in defensive wars.
